Dr. Barr attended medical school at the University of Toronto and earned his degree in Medicine in 1988. He completed two years of Orthopaedic Surgery training prior to being drawn to Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He completed his Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Western Ontario in London and obtained his Plastic Surgery Specialist Certification in 1993. Pursuing his special interest in the area of Facial Surgery and Reconstruction, Dr. Barr went on to complete an additional eighteen months of advanced training in Facial Reconstruction and Cranial Facial Trauma. Over the past 24 years, Dr. Barr has focused on breast, facial, body and scalp aesthetics. With a patient base of over 50,000, he has performed thousands of cosmetic plastic surgery procedures. In recent years, his practice has evolved to include non-invasive aesthetic and anti-aging medicine.

One of the busiest areas of Dr. Barr’s practice is that of body contouring. During these procedures, he often uses unwanted fat removed from the buttocks, abdomen and thighs to address the patient’s volume loss in the face, hands, breasts, thighs and other areas of the body. He has also used this fat to perform micro fat grafting and nano fat grafting to further revolutionize treatment of facial aging. By harnessing the volumizing and regenerative properties of fat, he has been able to provide permanent correction for facial volume loss.

His relentless pursuit of optimal aesthetic outcomes for his patients led Dr. Barr to research the regenerative and healing power of stem cell therapy using body fat. During this research, he became intrigued by the reparative potential of this area of medicine and traveled to California Stem Cell Treatment Centre to undergo stem cell therapy himself. The outcome of this treatment in resolving his back pain was so successful that he wanted to bring the technology to Northern Ontario.
